OpalDam es un material con base de metacrilato diseñado para aislar el tejido adyacente a los dientes que vayan a blanquearse. Si pretende blanquearse una sola pieza dentaria, deberá emplearse OpalDam para proteger las piezas adyacentes. OpalDam es fotopolimerizable y tiene la capacidad de reflejar la luz para mantener los tejidos aislados frente al calor. Es suficiente con fotopolimerizar sólo unos 10-20 segundos por diente. Seque completamente la encía antes de aplicar OpalDam.
OpalDam está disponible en dos colores: blanco brillante y verde brillante. OpalDam Green ofrece un contraste mucho mayor con las encías y los dientes. Viene incluido en los kits de Opalescence Boost.
Igualmente, OpalDam sirve para proteger tejidos duros y blandos al aplicar técnicas como el arenado o el grabado con ácidos fuertes (p. ej., técnicas de reparación de porcelana), así como para sellar o fijar un dique de goma.
